Steampunk on Sunday: The Maker

You  may have already seen this.
If so, this is a chance to enjoy it again.

If you haven't seen this,
go and watch.

The set is beautiful,
the characters are meaningful
and the story isn't what you think.

When you get to the end,
you'll want to take another look
at the beginning.

The evocative music,
is free to download,
which is a very generous thing
for him to offer.

The amazing rabbits,
which are what drew me to the
animation in the first place,
are by the wonderful

Her poignant, characterful creations
are just perfect for this
cosily claustrophobic Steampunk setting.

    1. It's been a favourite of mine for a while, not least because it's not the story you're expecting. Not a sweet story at all.

  2. Superb and not at all expected. It is allegorical to our own existence: we make the next generations and pass on the book. Along that line something I slammed together from other’s works several years ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4eryTThJWI .

    1. I love how the story twists and, because the film provokes discussion, it's open to interpretation. I find it horribly sad, Hubby hands me a hanky every time I watch it.Thank you for the link. What a clever combination you have there.

  3. My daughter and I love this little movie... And I love her little creatures. I wish I could afford to buy one. At least I imagine they're expensive - by the time I realize one's for sale, they're always gone so I don't really know! :o)

    1. They are wonderful, aren't they? Just the perfect creatures to inhabit this world, too.

  4. I love this! So well done! I love the little creatures! A twist, I was not expecting for sure! Now, I watched the beginning again, I still think I am missing something? What do you see?
It is very sad, but beautiful to watch!

    1. It's like Sixth Sense. When I got to the end, I had to check the beginning, just to check. I cry every single time.

  5. Aw... the beautiful circle that is life... this was moving. Kind of perfect for October, too. I know you posted it in September, but I'm reading it now, so... well, you know ;-)

    1. it is just right for the closing of the year, isn't it? Someone put forward the theory that he makes a female, because the only other rabbit he's seen is the one who gave him the book. He re-creates her and she, in turn, will -re-make him. Maybe they're endlessly creating each other? Either way, the race-against-time gives it a poignancy. There's never enough time to do more than say 'hello...take this...goodbye...'

      *gropes for hanky again*

    1. Thank you so much! The little film provokes so much discussion about what's happening that it deserves to be better known.
